What Lies Beneath
Last session ended in the desert north of Route 70, standing around the roof of a buried car. The same lone coyote’s tracks that circled the Begay graves circled this one. The same impossible pattern.
Something dug it up.
And then stopped.
While the others wait for what the sand gives back, Daniel Mercer is at the reservation morgue with the four members of the Begay family — no blood, precise puncture wounds at the base of every skull — trying to find the words for what he is looking at.
He does not have them yet.
Session 02 begins in the desert at dusk.
The wind is rising.
The car is waiting.
